Dumpster size guide
A "yard" is a cubic yard of space. Exact dimensions vary by company, so confirm before you book.
| Size | Typical projects |
|---|---|
| 10 yard | Small clean-out, a bathroom remodel, a small deck removal |
| 15 yard | Garage or basement clean-out, a small kitchen remodel |
| 20 yard | Most common size: a larger remodel, flooring or roofing on a typical house |
| 30 yard | Whole-home clean-out, new construction, a major renovation |
| 40 yard | Large construction, commercial or demolition jobs |
Weight matters as much as size
Heavy materials like concrete, dirt, brick and shingles fill the weight allowance long before the space. Many companies require a smaller dumpster or a "clean load" for heavy debris. Ask about the included tons and the overage rate.
Dimensions and weight limits vary by company: TBD until linked to published spec sheets. See cited price ranges by size.
